Yan Xia

Assistant professor in the chemistry department of Stanford Universit.

Biography

Yan Xia is an assistant professor in the chemistry department of Stanford University. He received his BS degree from Peking University ('02), MSc from McMaster University ('05), and Ph.D. from Caltech ('10), all in chemistry. Following his Ph.D., he worked at Dow chemical company for 1.5 years and then a postdoc at MIT for 1 year, before joining the chemistry faculty at Stanford in the summer of 2013.

His research interest lies in the design, synthesis, and manipulation of organic materials and polymers, driven by new synthetic capability, rational molecular design, and curiosity. In particular, related to separation, he is interested in developing a new efficient synthesis of microporous polymers and developing new membrane materials based on molecular design.

He is a recipient of the Army Research Office Young Investigator Award, NSF CAREER Award, Cottrell Scholar Award, and Sloan Research Fellowship.
