SAMREF visits AMPM Center – Research to Industry!

Senior executives of SAMREF visited KAUST and AMPM Center to learn more about our research capabilities and potential for collaboration. Mohammad Al-Naghash, President & CEO, headed a large group of 17 executives from all branches of the company. AMPM Center Director, Prof. Mohamed Eddaoudi, welcomed our visitors and led the tour of Center facilities.

SAMREF is an equally owned joint venture between Saudi Aramco and ExxonMobil. They own and operate Yanbu Refining Company. Started in 1984 they currently process about 400,000 barrels per day of Arab Light Crude into gasoline, jet fuel, and heating oil.

Both parties emphasized the bond between advances in the petroleum industry and University research and sought further collaboration.

Prof Mohamed Eddaoudi thanked SAMREF for bringing almost all their executives to learn about KAUST and its research centers. "Our mission is to enhance Saudi Arabian economy by enabling, through innovative technology, significant reductions in energy consumption in oil conversion and purification."

For his part, President and CEO Mohammad Al-Naghash thanked AMPM Center, remarking the faculties and people were first class. "We look forward to future collaboration both on science and people development initiatives."
