Yujiang Zhong successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation entitled “Study of Thermally Responsive Ionic Liquids for Novel Water Desalination and Energy Conversion Applications" under the supervision of Prof. Zhiping Lai, AMPM Center. Yujiang earned her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2005 and 2008 respectively.

After five years of work experience in membranes technologies, she joined KAUST as a Ph.D. student. Yujiang’s research focus at AMPM Center is on membrane technologies for water treatment, desalination and energy conversion.

“My thesis research aims at exploring novel membrane processes based on thermally responsive ionic liquids with the upper critical solution temperature optimized for water desalination and energy conversion from low-grade heat energy to electricity”, she says.

Studying and living in KAUST has meant a stage of personal and professional growth.

“I come from working in Industry, focused on product development for commercialization, to KAUST where we researchers explore frontiers of science in sustainable technologies”, she concluded.

Yujiang is open to all possibilities that allow her to continue growing professionally. Congratulations, Dr. Zhong!
AMPM Center wishes you all the best for the future.
