Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials (AMPM) Center welcomes Dr. Wojciech Ogieglo, who joins Prof. Ingo Pinnau's group as Research Scientist. He will be researching transport performance and relation to composition of thin film composite membranes based on polymers of intrinsic microporosity.
Wojciech received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Cracow University of Technology, Poland and a double M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry and Polymer Technology at Cracow University of Technology, Poland and Münster University of Applied Sciences, Germany. In 2014, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, University of Twente, The Netherlands.
His research interests revolve around membrane technology and engineering, particularly fundamentals of molecular-level interactions between ultra-thin super-glassy polymer membranes and mixture to be separated and physics of penetrant-induced glass transition and swelling of ultra-thin polymer layers.
Before joining AMPM, he visited KAUST as an invited speaker and participant in AMPM Center conference, 'New Materials Horizon for Energy-Intensive Industrial Separations'. During these visits, he was impressed by the quality of research activities, instrumentation and work culture. "I felt that here I would have an opportunity to realize my professional goals and develop further. In addition to that, for someone having small children, KAUST seemed extremely attractive as a safe playing and learning environment with excellent schools", he said.
