​Congratulations to Dr. Mohamed Amen Hammami!

Amen, as he likes to be called, successfully defended his thesis 'Engineering of Mixed Matrix Membranes for Water Treatment, Protective Coating, and Gas Separation' supervised by Prof. Niveen Khashab. His research is focused on Mixed Matrix Membranes, particularly on design and fabrication of nano-fillers to impart target functionality to the membrane. Applications include gas separation, water treatment, and protective coatings.

Around one hundred people came to support Amen in his thesis defense. He said that the packed auditorium provided motivation and made him feel confident and relaxed.

Before the defense started, Prof. Khashab said a few words of encouragement for future graduates. "Amen is an extraordinary guy. He can multitask in an amazing way. He is so hardworking and motivated. Nothing tells you that someone will be a success more than motivation. They go places and do things by themselves and Amen has that".

"It was an absolute pleasure that you have been a graduate student in my lab. I enjoyed every time we discussed science and came up with this amazing project. Keep your motivation going and you will go to great places", she added.

Amen also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Khashab for the support received during these four years of work. "She has always supported me and never doubted my research abilities. She always motivated me to be a better scientist and to get what I wanted", Amen concluded.
