Ph.D. Graduate, Rahul Shevate – Hard work and dedication

12 December, 2018

On November 19, Rahul Shevate successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation entitled 'Isoporous Block Copolymer Membranes: Novel Modification Routes and Selected Application' under the supervision of AMPM Prof. Klaus-Viktor Peinemann. Rahul earned his B.SC. in Chemistry and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Pune University in 2007 and 2009 respectively.

Rahul's research interest is focused on exploring novel routes for chemical functionalization of isoporous PS-b-P4VP membranes via various in-situ and post-membrane fabrication approaches.

"The research output of my Ph.D. clearly widens the application bandwidth of block copolymer isoporous membranes especially in the separation of challenging protein mixture and demonstration of such membranes as high-performance humidity sensors", he explains.

As a student, Rahul has published 11 scientific papers, 4 of them as a first author with more than 100 citations in total; as well as 2 patent applications. An outstanding result of 4 years of hard work and dedication.

Rahul notes that his Ph.D. provided him with new skills that will help to meet current and future challenges. Moreover, he is grateful for the support of Prof. Peinemann and group members over the last few years.

"I will always be thankful to Prof. Peinemann for giving me numerous opportunities to learn, discover and challenge myself. Thanks to him I have gained confidence in myself, I have learned to develop high-quality research and present results in an effective way", Rahul concludes.
